Do your clients ever hit a software wall you can’t help them through?
It happens in a lot of different businesses. A marketing agency whose client needs a customer portal that connects to their ERP. An IT firm whose client needs an internal application their existing systems can’t handle. An ERP consultant who identifies a workflow gap the platform simply wasn’t built to fill. A business consultant whose client has outgrown their software but doesn’t know where to turn.
Whatever the context, the situation is the same. A client has a real operational problem that needs a custom software solution, and the firm they trust most doesn’t build software.
Without a trusted development partner to refer them to, that client is on their own. They go looking, they find someone unfamiliar, and the outcome is uncertain. In the meantime your relationship with that client gets complicated by a problem you couldn’t solve.
RMR Development works with agencies, consultants, IT firms, and other professional services partners as a development partner for exactly these situations.
How It Works
The arrangement is straightforward.
When one of your clients needs custom web or mobile development work that falls outside your scope, you introduce them to RMR. We handle the discovery, the proposal, and the development work. You stay the primary relationship with your client throughout. If the introduction results in a signed project, you earn a referral commission under a simple written agreement.
There’s no overhead on your end, no obligation to refer work that isn’t a fit, and no exclusivity requirement. The agreement is non-exclusive, meaning you’re free to maintain relationships with other development partners, and so are we.
What We Build
Most referrals from partners fall into one of two categories.
Outward-facing applications: customer portals, supplier dashboards, partner-facing mobile apps, and other tools that give the right people secure real-time access to a client’s internal data. These are common requests from businesses that have solid internal systems but no good way to share information with the customers, suppliers, and partners outside their organization who need it.
Internal applications: purpose-built tools that replace processes a client’s existing software was never designed to handle. Workflow applications, data management tools, operational platforms. The kind of thing a business has been managing with spreadsheets and manual effort and needs to finally do properly.
If you’ve had clients describe either of these situations, you’ve encountered the kind of work we do.
Who We Work With
We’re looking to build relationships with a small number of partners whose client base includes small and mid-size businesses in operational industries. Distribution, manufacturing, field services, logistics, agriculture, healthcare operations, and similar sectors where data management and workflow complexity are common.
We’re not the right fit for every partner. But if your clients tend to be businesses with real operational complexity, there’s likely a natural overlap.
Why RMR Development
A few things worth knowing before you consider referring a client to us.
We’ve been doing this work since 2000. Custom software development for small and mid-size businesses is all we do. We’re not a generalist shop that dabbles in custom development between other projects.
Our team is four full-time developers, all US-based, all in-house. No outsourcing, no contractors. The people who scope a project are the people who build it.
We take referral relationships seriously. When you introduce a client to us, your reputation is on the line as much as ours. We treat every referred client with that in mind.
Getting Started
If this sounds like it could be a fit, the next step is a short conversation. We can talk through what your client base looks like, what kinds of situations tend to come up, and whether there’s enough overlap to make a formal partnership worth putting in writing.
No commitment required on either side until we both feel good about it.
